Or better known to all Singaporeans as a pasar malam – look forward to a huge selection of foods ranging from traditional and familiar items like Ramly burgers and kebabs to the trendier items like churros and bingsu! Larger than regular night markets, this one houses many other retail and game booths too.

30 March to 8 April – Sakura Japan Fair

Want to immerse yourself in the Japanese culture while being surrounded by cherry blossoms, but don’t have the time/money to fly to Japan? The Sakura Japan Fair held at Gardens by The Bay might be able to satisfy your wanderlust for now! Organised in partnership with JTB (one of Japan’s largest tour agencies), the fair will feature many food and beverage booths, Japanese retail booths selling items unique to each prefecture, tons of workshops, performances, and a photobooth!

1 April to 6 May – Voilah! 2018

What better way to usher in the month of April than with a clown performance featuring Hossan Leong (a Singaporean actor), Jean Lambert (a French theatre practitioner), and Martin Palisse (a French circus expert) on April Fool’s Day! Organised by the Embassy of France, Voilah! 2018 will be opening with The Rock’s Clown Performance, and continues through the month with a photography exhibition by Michel Rawicki, who shares his journeys in the poles through his pictures.

2 April to 29 April – World Gourmet Summit

Attention all gourmet foodies, the World Gourmet Summit (WGS) is back again for its 22nd year in Singapore! This year’s theme is “The Discovery WGS”, where diners get to embark on various culinary experiences that they would otherwise not have a chance to, right here in Singapore.  Featuring master chefs from all over the world, some dining concepts that you can look forward to include coal-cooked dishes that produce that unique characteristic charred flavour (also known as “Wok Hei”), or exotic cuisines from Santorini, Ishikawa prefecture (in Japan), Mexico and Ukraine, just to name a few.

Give your ears a treat this month with the Singapore International Jazz Festival! Don’t be fooled by its name, the festival does feature other genres of music on top of jazz, such as rap and trance. Some international artists you can look forward to include Grammy Award-winning artists Estelle, Lalah Hathaway, and Jamie Cullum. If you’re #teamlocal, you can enjoy Weish, The TENG Ensemble and MAS1A at the festival too.

As its name suggests, this event is perfect for divers or those interested in diving. 14 April – Farmers Market at Loewen Gardens

If you didn’t visit the previous Farmer’s Market held at Hotel Jen, fret not for there’s another one held at the Pantry, Loewen Gardens. 22 April – The Performance Series 2018

The Performance Series is a series of running races that brings participants to landmarks in Singapore. There are 4 races this year, with the first one taking place at Punggol Waterway. 30 April – Fall Out Boy Mania Tour

Another one of my favourite bands from the 2000s (and probably yours too), Fall Out Boy needs no introduction. They will be performing their famous hits, and the best part? This is a free-standing event, so you can buy your tickets at the last minute and still get a good spot if you head on down early!

While this event technically happens in May, registration for the run ends on 13 April. If you’re a die-hard Star Wars fan, be sure to sign up for it! The question is, do you belong to the Dark side or Light side?
